The Ukrainian War made the match between Dnipro-1 and FC Oleksandria for the Ukrainian Championship break, this Monday (6), a record that will hardly be celebrated.
The game lasted almost 5 hours, being the longest in the history of the local league, due to several air raid alarms that sounded in the city of Dnipro, in Southeast Ukraine.
Won by Dnipro-1 1-0, the match started at 5:15 pm local time, but, after one of the many alarms, the players had to go to the changing rooms and were only able to return to the field shortly before 10 pm.
In total, the game lasted 4 hours and 36 minutes, surpassing the 4 hours and 27 minutes of FC Rukh x FC Metalist, last season, which was also interrupted for the same reason. Ukraine has been at war with Russia since February 2022.
The Ukrainian Championship was suspended at the start of the conflicts, but returned in July 2022. The matches are held behind closed doors and are advised to be interrupted in the event of air raid alarms.
In European competitions, however, Ukrainian teams must play outside the country. This Tuesday, in fact, Shakhtar Donestk surprised in the Champions League by beating Barcelona 1-0. The match was played in Hamburg, Germany.
