After Zagallo prioritizes youngest son, fight over inheritance ends up in court

Zagallo even accused his eldest children of extortion after his wife’s death in 2012

Zagallo, who passed away on January 5th at the age of 92, left a good part of his youngest son Mário César Zagallo, around 60% of his assets, while Maria Emilia de Castro Zagallo, Maria Cristina de Castro Zagallo and Paulo Jorge de Castro Zagallo will have around 12% of the total value.

In his will, the former player cites a “deep disappointment” with three of his four children, making explicit his preference for the youngest as well as the majority of the inheritance for Mário. The older brothers decided to go to court to obtain an equal division.

According to the website Notícias da TV and in a conversation with Estadão, Mário César Zagallo explained that the fight has been going on for at least seven years and assured that, after the disappointment, the father wanted to cut ties with the other children.

“They (the brothers) want to appear after seven years. I was the one who took care of my father this whole time,” she said. “There’s a document signed by my father,” said the youngest Wolf.

The fight between the family would have started since the death of Zagallo de Castro’s wife in 2012, when Zagallo accused his children of extortion.
