Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) thanked this Wednesday (1st) for the support he received in the race for the presidency of the Senate. Marinho received 32 votes, while Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) was re-elected President of the House with 49 votes.

The senator also stated that Brazil needs “pacification” and that he will inspect the Lula government. He stated that his candidacy made Pacheco “out of inertia, promising actions in defense of parliament”.

“I appreciate the support of everyone who believed in our fight. I’m sure that we came out of this process stronger and that we managed to get the President of the Senate out of inertia, promising actions to defend parliament. Let’s go ahead. The fight for democracy continues!”, said Marinho at the twitter.

In a video, the senator also defended that the agenda presented in his speech before the vote “can be put into practice, in defense of freedom, the prerogatives of Parliament, independence and separation of powers, the return to democratic normality”.
