After an unsuccessful attempt to be appointed to the Ministry of Cities, former federal deputy and former minister Maurício Quintella Lessa (MDB) was nominated for the presidency of the IRB Board.
The folder has been the target of an arm wrestling match in the MDB between deputy Isnaldo Bulhões (MDB-AL) and the minister himself, Jader Filho.
Bulhões supported Quintella for the Housing Secretariat, responsible for Minha Casa, Minha Vida, one of the main programs of the federal government. Jader got the better of the dispute and scored the federal auditor Hailton de Almeida.
IRB is a private reinsurance company, but it is influenced by the federal government. At the end of 2019, the company was accused by the resource manager Squadra of making up the numbers in the quarterly results balance sheets, in order to present a better picture of what was, in fact, its real situation, and has been suffering difficulties ever since.
