Guilherme Boulos’ (PSOL-SP) chief of staff in the Chamber, Josué Rocha, paid compensation in the parliamentarian’s name in the amount of R$4,800 to a photographer who sued the federal deputy for improper use of an image.
In March this year, Boulos, pre-candidate for mayor of São Paulo, published on his Instagram account a photo taken by André Lucas Almeida about the tragedy on the north coast of São Paulo, at the beginning of the year. “Residents of the coast suffer from contaminated water and diseases. PSOL fights for the approval of emergency aid for rain victims,” he wrote.
The photographer then sued the psolista in the São Paulo Court for not having given authorization to use the image. In April, an agreement between the parties was reached, ending the action, whereby Boulos gave credit to the author in the post and promised to pay the compensation.
The deposit, on April 28, was made by Rocha to the photographer’s lawyer. He is the former national coordinator of the MTST (Homeless Workers Movement), the entity that projected the deputy, and one of his closest allies and friends. He should be part of the coordination of your campaign for mayor. As an advisor to the parliamentary office, he receives R$12,139.40.
In a statement, Boulos’s advisor stated that “the network team [do psolista] used a photo without proper authorization.”
“When contacted by the author, we sought an understanding with him. He charged the price for using the image. Josué Rocha, team coordinator, recognizing the error, made the payment”, said the note.
