State deputy Felipe Camozatto (Novo-RS) filed a lawsuit in Federal Justice against the practice of ministers in the Lula government (PT) of linking their personal profiles on social networks to those of the ministries in posts, the so-called “collabs”.
According to the parliamentarian, this attitude would violate the constitutional principle of impersonality in the public service.
“The object of the discussion is the violation, by the Federal Government’s communication, of the guiding principles of Brazilian administrative law, in particular the principle of impersonality, from the moment it chooses to make posts that link the personal profiles of ministers to the official networks of the folders under his responsibility in order to promote them”, says the lawsuit, which is addressed to the Minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency, Paulo Pimenta, and to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva himself.
Among the supporters of the practice mentioned in the lawsuit were Pimenta, Wellington Dias (Social Development), Daniela Carneiro (Tourism), Margareth Menezes (Culture) and Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy), Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture), Rui Costa (Casa Civil) , Silvio Almeida (Human Rights), Anielle Franco (Racial Equality), Aparecida Gonçalves (Women), Sônia Guajajara (Indigenous Peoples) and Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations).
“It is enough to observe the reach of the ministers’ networks in relation to their ministries’ networks to identify the opportunity to expand the reach of their personal communication and, concomitantly, of their social networks”, reports the judicial piece.
The argument is that ministers would be using official government networks to promote themselves politically. The deputy asks in the action to remove the content from the air and that they are prevented from making new posts in this format.
Sought after, the Presidency’s Social Communication Secretariat did not comment until the publication of this text.
