Parliamentarian says the measure aims to alleviate financial expenses and guarantee social programs

Federal deputy Acácio Favacho (MDB-AP) presented a bill (PL 4679/23), which exempts low-income families from charging electricity tariffs in the common areas of housing complexes, such as: entrance hall, stairs , corridors, etc. The objective of the project is to alleviate financial expenses and make social programs more sustainable.

“Low-income families who purchased properties in multi-family buildings find their financial situation even more adversely affected by the obligation to pay for the condominium’s electricity costs related to common areas, such as lighting and pumping of drinking water in the property. The economic condition of these families may deteriorate to the point where they need to get rid of the much-desired asset”, explains.

According to the proposal, the Social Electricity Tariff – TSEE will also be applied to consumer units consisting of electrical installations to serve common use areas of multifamily buildings intended for low-income families.
