“A Flor do Buriti” Promotion “A Flor do Buriti”, a film by the Portuguese João Salaviza and the Brazilian Renée Nader Messora, was awarded this Friday night (26) at the Cannes Film Festival. Produced by Julia Alves and Ricardo Alves Jr. by the Minas Gerais production company Entre Filmes, the film received the Prix Ensemble of the Un Certain Regard exhibition. The film, which talks about the resistance of the Krahô people in the north of Tocantins, was enthusiastically received by the audience at its premiere on Tuesday (23). The production was applauded for more than 10 minutes after the projection. “A Flor do Buriti” is the result of many years of collaboration between the directors and the indigenous community of Pedra Branca. “It is important to emphasize that our project with the Krahô is not an artistic project, it is a life project”, stresses João Salaviza. In 2017, the directors won the Special Jury Prize, at the same show, with “A Chuva é Cantoria na Aldeia dos Mortos”, also about the Krahô.
