Manaus (AM) – With the aim of promoting awareness about preventing and combating child and youth violence, registration is open for the 1st Make Bonito Amazonas Contest to reward students from the state education network, authors of drawings and poems on preventing and combating abuse and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. The initiative is from the Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation – Drª Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP), linked to the Amazonas State Health Secretariat (SES-AM), with the Education and Sports Secretariat (Seduc), with support of the Regional Labor Court of the 11th Region (TRT-11 AM/RR), Public Ministry of Labor (MPT-AM/RR) and Santo Antônio Child and Adolescent Assistance Institute (IACAS).

In this first edition, the contest’s theme is “Make it beautiful at school and in life: protect our children and adolescents”. The contest, which is part of the “Make it Beautiful” campaign, held across the country, aims to encourage the creation of drawings and poems by children and teenagers from the state education network.

The initiative aims to raise society’s awareness of the importance of protecting children and adolescents from abuse and sexual exploitation. “We want to recognize students as social actors in actions to mobilize, raise awareness and prevent violence, stimulating this public’s protagonism and critical sense”,

highlights Cassandra Torres, coordinator of the Surveillance of Violence and Accidents in Amazonas, for the FVS-RCP.

Registration and award

Children and teenagers from the 1st to 9th grade of elementary school in the state network can participate in the contest, from the 1st to the 5th grade in the drawing modality and from the 6th to the 9th grade in the poetry modality. Entries must be made, from March 22 to 29, using a form that must be completed by the state school’s management team.

Prizes will be awarded by category. The prizes will be a notebook (1st place), a cell phone (2nd place), a tablet (3rd place) for each of the categories (drawing and poetry). For more details of the competition, access the announcement:

Violence and Accident Surveillance

The Surveillance of Violence and Accidents aims to know the magnitude and severity of violence and accidents and provide subsidies for the definition of public policies, strategies and actions for intervention, prevention, care and protection for people in situations of violence.

In Amazonas, the Surveillance of Violence and Accidents is carried out through the Management of Chronic Diseases and Non-Transmissible Diseases (Gvdant), of the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance (DVE) of the FVS-RCP.
