70 athletes receive support from the Government of Amapá with airline tickets for national and international competitions – News of Brazil

The development of sport is one of the priorities of the Government of Amapá. In the first week of July, the State Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Sedel) delivered 70 airline tickets for athletes to compete in various competitions. The investment value was R$ 190 thousand.
The 70 athletes and coaches will compete in badminton, basketball, breakdancing, soccer, judo and table tennis in the states of Pará, São Paulo, Salvador and even abroad, in Argentina, in the months of July, August and September, leading to Amapá flag.
“Judo is one of the sports that grows the most in the state and, therefore, we need this partnership with the Government and Sedel so that more athletes fight outside the state and represent our colors well”said Antônio Viana, a judo teacher.
Paralympic sports also received special attention from the State Government this month. Sedel’s goalball team has already traveled to compete in a national selection in Brasília, and the amputee soccer team from Amapá has air tickets in hand to compete in the North Cup, in Belém.
“It is a very important moment for parasports, in this case amputee football. This promotion gives us a greater motivation to continue with this project for the next competitions”, said Wilton Barros, a member of the Amputee Football Association.
According to Sedel’s secretary, Rudney Cunha, support for sports in Amapa will continue in the second half of 2023, not only with donations of tickets for athletes, but also with investments in municipalities.
“We know the importance of providing our athletes with experience in national competitions and we will continue with this support. But, at the same time, we are also going to promote the sport in the search for new talents that are in other municipalities, waiting for an opportunity”, finished the manager.
