Investment in telecommunications should have a momentary setback in 2023, according to projections by consultancy Inter.B, specialized in infrastructure. But the expectation is that they will increase again in the coming years, due to the fulfillment of obligations related to the implementation of 5G and the expansion of regional providers.

The expectation is that, this year, R$ 26.5 billion will be invested, a decrease of 2.2% in relation to 2022. One of the factors that explain this drop is the reorganization of the sector, after the weakening of the financial conditions of the Oi, responsible for one fifth of sector investments between 2010 and 2020.

“By dedicating itself to the provision of broadband services (optic fiber), the company began to invest significantly below recent years, a difference not offset by the three largest companies in the sector (Vivo, Tim and Claro)”, points out Inter.B .
