FIFA announced this Friday (23) that the first Club World Cup, which will replace the World Cup in its current format, will be played in 2025 in the United States.
The competition will have 32 teams, ranked according to results in continental competitions in the four years preceding the tournament.
According to the organisation, the United States was chosen based on infrastructure and the service sector. Everything is already available and will be used by the event. The country will host next year’s Copa America and is preparing to be one of the hosts of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Canada and Mexico.
