After so many days off in recent weeks, it can be difficult to face the reality that 2024 will only have six weekday national holidays. Among these, two fall on Wednesdays, preventing travel or extended rest.

The so-called holidays will take place on the day of Universal Fraternization, Carnival, Good Friday, Corpus Christi and the Proclamation of the Republic. Of these dates, Carnival and Corpus Christi may or may not be extended, depending on regional decrees and each person’s place of work — the optional points.

The difference compared to 2023 may discourage many workers, but this is hope for an improvement in the economy for President Lula. At a ministerial meeting, he stated that the smaller number of holidays on working days next year will result in a slight increase in Brazil’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
