On the 29th and 30th of April, Macapá will host the first stage of the Amapaense Taekwondo Championship. The competition is aimed at athletes who are registered with the Amapaense Taekwondo Federation (FATKD).
On Saturday (29) the athletes will weigh in and the fights will start on Sunday (30), starting at 8 am, at the Wilson Malcher Municipal School.
The fights take place in the flank, junior, children, cadet, junior under 17 and under 21, adult and master 1 to 6 divisions. It will be the athlete’s responsibility to bring their competition material such as forearm, leg, glove, electronic socks, mouthpiece and protector genital (mandatory for male and female categories).
The electronic protectors will be provided by the Brazilian Taekwondo Confederation (CBTKD), as well as helmets for the cadet division.
The competition has the support of the Municipality of Macapá, through the Sports and Leisure Coordination (Eat), which provides structure, court, tatami, sound, transportation and is also responsible for the logistics of the event.
The event will be disputed in the color belt and black belt categories. The Sport and Leisure Coordinator of Macapá, Bruno Church, highlights the City Hall’s support for the event. “I am very happy to be able to provide a safe place for athletes to show their skills. Taekwondo is a sport that occupies a place in my heart and it is always gratifying to see more people taking an interest in this sport. Our goal is to ensure that more people are able to practice this modality.”.
