This Sunday (30) the first stage of the Amapaense Taekwondo Championship took place, at the Wilson Malcher Municipal School, in Macapá. Organized by the Sports and Leisure Coordination (Eat) and the Brazilian Taekwondo Confederation (CBTKD), the event had the participation of 160 athletes from the Infant, Cadet, Juvenile and Adult categories.
Competitors participated in fights in the children’s, cadet, junior under-17 and under-21, adult and master 1 to 6 divisions, in the color belt and black belt categories. The event is aimed at athletes registered with the Amapaense Taekwondo Federation (FATKD).
The competition was supported by City Hall of Macapá, through Comel, which provided the structure, court, tatami, sound, transport and logistics for the event. The Sport and Leisure coordinator of Macapá, Bruno Church, highlighted the support of the city hall.
“The event was a success, Comel once again gave all the necessary support so that the athletes could compete and represent Macapá. The Amapaense Taekwondo Championship is an important competition, which is worth five points in the national ranking. I congratulate all the athletes who participated and gave their best”stated Church.
The competition was attended by athletes from the Bruno Igreja Project, Academia Dojan Lutas and Academia Cássio Anderson. Champion athletes who won first place in their categories scored 5 points in the national ranking. The Mirim and Fraldinha categories also participated, but did not score in the championship.
Among the highlights of the championship are athletes Maria Clara, 13 years old, and Bruna Carvalho, 25 years old. Maria Clara, an athlete from the Bruno Igreja Social Project, won first place in the Cadet category up to 51 KG, while Bruna Carvalho, in her first championship, won first place in the Adult category.
“I am very happy to have won first place in my category. I trained a lot to get here. This result motivates me even more to continue training and competing”, says Maria Clara. “It was an incredible experience to participate in my first Taekwondo championship and even more exciting to have won first place in the Adult category. I want to thank my gym and my coaches for all the support and for helping me get here.”declares the athlete from Bruno Igreja Project, Bruna Carvalho.
Overall, the Academy Bruno Igreja (ABI) led with 564 points, followed by DOJAN with 260 and Cassio Anderson Academy (ATKDCA) with 123 points.
