The athlete was considered the best swimmer in the championship, ending the year as the fastest in Brazil in the Children 1 category.
Amazonian athlete Pietra Menezes, 13, took home another trophy. This time she was crowned two-time Brazilian champion in the children’s 50 meter freestyle and won the Maurício Bekenn Trophy. The competition was held on November 25th, in Recife (PE).
“I’m very happy with this victory. And I will continue with physical preparation and all the training that allows me to improve myself more and more. I thank my entire technical team and my beloved mother, my biggest supporter and my biggest inspiration”, said the athlete.
In total, 113 clubs participated in the competition with representation of 666 Brazilian athletes. Pietra, who swam in lane 4, had the best time in the qualifiers going into the final as a big favorite.
In the 50 meter freestyle event, Pietra won with a time of 27.61 seconds, becoming two-time champion of the event. In addition to receiving the trophy for the best technical index in the competition, she was, once again, the best swimmer in the championship, ending the year as the fastest swimmer in Brazil in the Children’s 1 category.
The swimmer from Manaus, Pietra, is an outstanding athlete who has accumulated several records in the Amazonian championships. She has already participated in several competitions in Brazil, winning the title of Two-time North/Northeast champion in the 50 meter freestyle. Pietra also reached 1st place in the Brazilian ranking twice in the Petiz 1 (11 years old) and Petiz 2 (12 years old) category in the 50 meter freestyle. In addition to these achievements, she also has titles in competitions such as JEAS and JEBS.
Pietra is a sprinter inspired by her mother, former athlete Luciana Oliveira, who was also Brazilian champion at 13 years old. The passion for sport and the talent for speed are characteristics that have been passed down from generation to generation in the family.
