A new survey released by Quaest shows that 1/3 of Brazilians believe that the 2022 presidential elections, in which President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was elected, were rigged.
According to the survey, the number of voters suspicious of the fairness of the result increased by three percentage points compared to the previous survey, carried out in December 2022. The percentage presented by the current survey is 32%.
Even among people who voted for Lula, the number of those who believe in fraud increased from 2% to 5%. Among voters for Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the PT’s main opponent in the 2022 elections, the number increased from 63% to 72%.
All regions of the country registered a drop in the number of voters who trust the result of the last election, except the Central-West Region. The one that showed a greater drop in trust was the South Region, from 61% to 51%, with an increase in distrust from 33% to 40%.
The research was commissioned by Genial Investimentos, with 2,012 face-to-face interviews between December 14th and 18th. The reliability level is 95%.
