Zé Ricardo accounts for the four years of his mandate as a federal deputy for the AM

With the end of his first term as a federal parliamentarian at the end of January, as he has always done throughout his 17 years of public life, deputy Zé Ricardo (PT / AM) gives accounts of his mandate to the population, next Saturday (28), in Manaus.

There were more than 1,600 proposals presented in the Federal Chamber, among 174 bills, 64 resolutions, eight laws approved and more than 1,800 roll-call votes, in addition to 328 pronouncements and R$ 176 million in parliamentary amendments for the Amazon, always in defense of workers and the Brazilian and Amazonian people.

In order to present these numbers in a magazine format, which are not only quantitative, but which have greatly contributed to improving the lives of the population, the deputy will meet with civil society on the next 28th, Saturday, at 9 am, in the auditorium of the School Normal Superior da UEA, in Cidade dos Carros, located on Avenida Djalma Batista, Chapada.

Several actors and segments are being invited that over the years have been together with the mandate in struggles and achievements, such as social institutions, unions, universities, professionals linked to education, health, housing, economy, environment, culture , among others.

For him, it is necessary to thank and account for the mandate exercised thanks to the vote and trust of the population of the State.

“For years, I could be a tool for many people to have the opportunity to have a more dignified and fair life. In the federal mandate, even facing very difficult years for humanity, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, together with a denialist and anti-democratic Federal Government, we won many victories, we visited 61 municipalities in the interior of the State, always looking for solutions to the problems encountered . And giving accounts of the mandate, on top of my old kombi, which earned me the nickname “The Man in the Kombi”. Unfortunately, we were unable to renew our mandate, but I will continue my struggles as a social activist, in the certainty that, soon, we will be together again”.

Featured in parliament

Over these years, Zé Ricardo has always stood out among the parliamentarians of the Amazon bench, with one of the highest productivity in the Chamber of Deputies, above all, for the propositions presented, pronouncements and presence in the plenary and in the main discussions in the federal parliament.

He was a full member of two committees of the House (Commission for National Integration, Regional Development and the Amazon – Cindra; and Committee for Urban Development Development – ​​CDU) and an alternate on the Committees on Education and the Committee on Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Cedecs). And he participated in dozens of parliamentary fronts in defense of many areas and professions.

He was also vice-coordinator of the Joint Parliamentary Front in Defense of Indigenous Peoples, through which he held several public hearings and visits, such as the one to the Waimiri-Atroari people (AM), in addition to having presented numerous projects and voted against all proposals that threatened the lives of native peoples.

And he was also elected coordinator of the External Commission of the Javari Valley, which followed the investigations surrounding the murder of Bruno Pereira and Dom Phillips, in June 2022, resulting in a diligence and public hearing in the Municipality of Atalaia do Norte, to hear indigenous leaders and investigate the complaints already sent to the authorities and that may be related to the crimes.

Between 2020 and 2023, deputy Zé Ricardo won BRL 176 million in federal funds for Amazonas, of which BRL 106.9 million in bench amendments and BRL 69.5 million in individual amendments for the following areas:

• Health – (BRL 33.8 million),
• Education (BRL 99.7 million),
• Rural production (BRL 3 million),
• Social assistance (R$ 17.3 million),
• Culture (BRL 11 million),
• Public security (BRL 200 thousand),
• Research, science and technology (BRL 5.2 million),
• Human rights (BRL 980 thousand),
• Income generation (BRL 2.3 million),
• Environment (1 million),
• Infrastructure (R$ 1.8 million).

It also passed important laws, such as Laws 14,048/2020 and 14,275/2021 (Assis de Carvalho Laws 1 and 2), with emergency measures for family farmers; Law 14.237/2021 (Vale Gas); Law 14.214/2021 – Menstrual Health Protection and Promotion Program; and Law 14,021/2020, with social protection measures to prevent and spread Covid-19 in indigenous territories.

As he also defended and voted for important projects for Brazil and Amazonas, such as in favor of reducing the ICMS tax on fuel, against the Social Security Reform, for aid to the cultural sector, against the privatization of water and Eletrobras, in favor of the new Fundeb and the payment of the Fundef precatories and in favor of the minimum wage for nursing. As well as dozens of representations in the Public Ministry, Courts of Accounts and actions in Justice, always in defense of the population.

For three consecutive years (2020, 2021 and 2022), the parliamentarian was elected the most active in Amazonas by the popular jury of the Prêmio Congresso em Foco, one of the most disputed in Brazilian politics today. He was also featured in the “Education” and “Climate and Sustainability” categories of the same national award. “Now, it’s a new time. Time to review the path and continue on the mission as a social activist and in the party. I do not withdraw from the struggle”.
