Youngest congresswoman takes office against abortion, drugs and gender ideology

University student Chiara Biondini (PP-MG) takes office as state deputy of Minas Gerais this Thursday (23) as the youngest parliamentarian in the history of the Minas Gerais legislature. At just 21 years and 1 day old, she had her investiture authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), after a lawsuit filed by the alternate, who claimed that she did not have a minimum age of 21 for the mandate.

Chiara received more than 34,000 votes and ranked 73rd among the 77 parliamentarians elected to the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais. The young woman intends to defend conservative guidelines, such as maintaining the prohibition of abortion, the criminalization of drugs and being against gender identity.

“[Ser uma jovem conservadora] it’s not a contradiction. It’s what I believe and it’s what’s part of my life. There are things we can innovate, but there are others that are immutable, such as the prohibition of abortion, drugs and gender ideology,” he said in an interview with Folha de São Paulo.

The new congresswoman from Minas Gerais also says that her flags will be youth and entrepreneurship.

Chiara is the daughter of federal deputy Eros Biondini (PL-MG), leader of a foundation that re-socializes drug addicts through religion in Belo Horizonte.

“It was our group, Corrente do Bem, that identified in Chiara the ability to strengthen our work and our Catholic and philanthropic actions,” said federal deputy Eros Biondini days after his daughter’s election, in an interview with the Estado de Minas newspaper. .

Chiara says that politics, when well executed, “is a tool that transforms people and facilitates State aid for citizens”, and that her election to the Assembly of Minas Gerais “represents the hope of the population in youth, aiming to make a policy differentiated”, he added to the same newspaper.

Still during the second round of the 2022 election, Chiara declared herself “100% [Jair] Bolsonaro” and engaged in the ex-president’s re-election campaign.
