Manaus (AM) – Young people from Rio Negro are preparing the theatrical show ‘Tempestade em Copo d’água’, which will be presented on October 17th, at Teatro Gebes Medeiros, Center of Manaus, at 7pm. Entry is free, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The young people are part of the Gari Project which, for 15 months, has been promoting art and education activities in the Três Unidos community.

Creator of the initiative, Adriano Rodrigues explained Gari’s proposal, an acronym that means Group of Friends Representing Ideas.

“It is an art project aimed at youth protagonism and community empowerment for young people from Sustainable Development Reserves (RDSs). Gari uses scenic art and logotherapy, which is focused on the meaning of life, to bring this protagonism”,

highlighted.

In the last phase of the project, the young people produced the show, from the text that gave rise to the play. On stage, they will also act and sing.

The show is sponsored by Sistema Martins and supported by the Government of Amazonas, through the secretariats of Environment (Sema) and Culture and Creative Economy, the Institute of Ecological Research (Ipê) and the Ministry of Culture.

The show

Vitória Dinis and Mateus Nunes, both 18 years old, are the authors of the text, adapted for the theater by Adriano Rodrigues.

The focus of the show ‘Tempestade em Copo d’água’ are the characters Juma and Moema, an engaged couple.

Juma, played by Elinelson Moraes, 21 years old, faces a dilemma: get married or leave the community where he lives to conquer the world. Before deciding, he ends up hurting everyone around him, including his fiancee.

“He is tired of living the same day every day, so he decides to leave the community where he lives, to look for something new in the city. He does this at the worst possible time. That’s where the play begins,”

said Mateus Nunes.

The bride, on the other hand, dreams of getting married to form a family. Geovana Barbosa, 16 years old, plays the character. She celebrates being part of the show’s cast.

“The Gari Project changed my life a lot, making me safer and more confident in myself. I feel fulfilled to be representing art and showing people that there are many talented people in indigenous and riverside communities in the Amazon,”

he said.

Love, passion, forgiveness and mystery make up the plot of the show. With intertwined stories, the play also presents elements of the caboclo-riverside culture of Rio Negro, such as the Festa do Divino.

Team

Created exclusively for the play, the soundtrack has original songs written by musicians Breno Di’Andrade (keyboard), Gabriel Lima (violin), Josias Junior (percussion) and Máriozinho Coelho (double bass). Adriano Rodrigues wrote the song lyrics.

With sound design by Pedro Alexandre Peres, the repertoire also features classics of Brazilian popular music and even the score from the famous musical ‘Cantando na rain’.

The first Amazonian to sign a collection at São Paulo Fashion Week, designer Maurício Duarte is responsible for the show’s costumes.

Juca Di Souza, known for setting great shows in Amazonas, created the scenario for the play. The scenic lighting is by Evandro Repolho.

The overall production is by Amanda Magaiver, an artist known for producing and performing in shows in the state.

The cast is made up of young Geovana Barbosa da Silva, Franciraldo Pereira de Oliveira, Samuel de Souza Gois, Jean Vitor da Silva Salgado, Ramilson Dios da Silva, Evilásio de Souza Leite, Tainara da Costa Cruz, Tailane da Costa Cruz, Rodrigo da Silva Oliveira, Natanael Salgado Araújo, Mateufs Campos Nunes, Vitória Dinis Contreiro, Ingrid Naiany Cruz Dias, Neucilane Silva de Moraes, Erinelson Silva de Moraes and Tailon Pontes de Araújo.
