Wrestlers resort to hair transplant

Surgeon specializing in the subject, Dr. Joel Lacerda spoke about the precautions that should be taken by athletes

Recently, some tough MMA fighters underwent hair transplant procedures, including legend Rodrigo Minotauro and UFC middleweights Paulo Borrachinha and Bruno Blindado. Expert on the subject, surgeon Dr. Joel Lacerda commented on men’s high demand for the method and answered if, somehow, recovery requires removal from activities.

“The day after the surgery, touching or wetting the follicle is not allowed. The patient left the clinic with a bandage on the donor area – the part of the body from which the follicles were taken to be implanted in the head. After removing the bandage, between 24 and 48 hours after the procedure, you can wash your hair”, he explained.

Still according to Dr. Joel Lacerda, after the third day it is possible to make foam with shampoo in the hand and palpate the follicle area, but without rubbing, just rinse with a weak jet of water. After the fifth day, the shampoo can be applied directly to the head. On the seventh day, the follicles will be fixed, and you can then wash your hair normally.

“You will be able to make the impact you want after seven days of the implant. The only prohibition is regarding sun exposure, but in that case, you can use a hat to protect yourself. In up to thirty days, the transplanted hair will fall out and you can go back to be who he was, with his native hair falling out after the transplant. From the third month onwards, the transplanted hair begins to grow, and new strands will grow in up to a year, until all the baldness is resolved”, he concluded.
