Jaan Roose, world slackline champion, set a new record in June by balancing on a 2.5 cm wide ribbon and crossing 150 meters in a straight line at the Fairmont Doha, a luxury hotel in the Qatari capital.
The Estonian athlete crossed an LED-lit slackline suspended between the iconic scimitar-shaped towers – a sword with a curved blade used by eastern peoples. The crossing is equivalent to 1.5 football fields.
“The towers represented a challenge I was eager to embrace. This hike was one of my most demanding challenges to date, especially considering its length and height.”said Roose after completing the cross.
In 2022, the Estonian successfully crossed a 500-meter slackline, at a height of 200 meters, and 50 °C temperature in Kazakhstan.
“It was truly an unforgettable visit to Qatar”Roose added.
