Manaus (AM) – Registration is now open for the Criminal Psychology workshop, taught by Dr. Christian Costa, Ph.D.: who has worked in the clinical and criminal area for 22 years. The event seeks to relate science and practice in the understanding and intervention of violent, psychopathological and criminal acts, and will be held on December 9, 2023, at IAMES- Instituto Amazônico de Ensino Superior, located on Rua São Luiz, in the Adrianópolis neighborhood.
The event program starts at 9am and ends at 2pm and despite being open to the general public who like true crime, it is aimed mainly at Psychology and Law academics, as well as police officers and criminal investigators.
The contents that will be covered in the workshop are, among others:
- Increase in violence and crime;
- Forensic psychopathology;
- Psychopaths;
Behavioral analysis
from the crime scene; - Criminal liability.
Christian Costa has been based in São Paulo for over 22 years, but is from Amazonas. He is Director of the Center for the Study of Criminal Behavior-CECCRIM and Ad Hoc Expert and Technical Assistant. He is a consultant and speaker at scientific events throughout the country. He is the author of the book “If Mal Had a Name” (published by Valer) and will launch the new book entitled: “The Dilemma of the Children in Red: When abusers decide to act”, in Manaus, at this workshop. The specialist is well known for his collaborations and analyzes of cases of national repercussion that can be seen on the programs Anatomia do Crime on the international channel Investigação Discovery and Amazon Prime, and also on the Operação Policia channel.
The event will be held by CECCRIM, with support from IAMES- Instituto Amazônico de Ensino Superior, located in Adrianópolis, in Manaus.

About Christian Costa
Professor Dr. Christian Costa, Ph.D.: Has worked in the clinical and criminal area for 22 years. It seeks to relate science and practice in understanding and intervening in violent, psychopathological and criminal acts. He has an academic background in Philosophy and Psychology (CRP SP 06/73995), with a Specialization in Cognitive Therapy from the Institute of Cognitive Therapy of São Paulo;
Specialization in Homicidal Behavior from the National University of La Plata (Argentina) and Master’s degree from the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at the Escola Paulista de Medicina at the Federal University of São Paulo in the area of Forensic Psychiatry.
PhD from PUC São Paulo (CAPES Scholarship).
He was a psychologist responsible for the forensic psychology sector at the São Paulo Military Police Prison from 2004 to 2012 and a Collaborator at the National Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Justice from 2006 to 2008. He is Director of the Center for the Study of Criminal Behavior-CECCRIM and Ad Hoc Expert and Technical Assistant.
He is a consultant and speaker at scientific events throughout the country.
He is the author of the book “If Evil Had a Name”. Author of the Criminal Maturity Degree Assessment Scale (Vetor Editora – in conclusion). In partnership with Dr. Kevin Beaver of Florida State University’s College of Criminology, he has published articles in the Journal of Criminal Justice.
He was coordinator of the Specialization course in Legal Psychology at Faculdades Educatie in São Paulo. His analyzes of cases with national repercussion can be seen on the Anatomia do Crime programs on the Investigação Discovery channel and Amazon Prime and on the police operation channel.
