Benefit is for those who received up to two minimum wages

Formal workers have until Thursday (28) to withdraw the PIS/Pasep salary bonus for 2023, referring to the base year 2021. If the withdrawal is not made, the money returns to the Workers Support Fund (FAT) .

According to Caixa, 84,500 workers have not received the benefit so far. In total, R$71.1 million is waiting to be redeemed.

The salary bonus was created in 1990 as financial assistance for lower-income workers. Every worker who has worked with a formal contract, for a legal entity employer, for at least 30 days, with an average remuneration of up to two minimum wages, is entitled to the benefit.

It is also necessary that the data has been correctly reported by the employer in the Annual Social Information Report (Rais). The worker must also be registered with the PIS/Pasep program for at least five years. Domestic workers and others employed by individuals, for example, are not entitled.

This year, the value of the bonus is proportional to the period in which the employee worked with a formal contract in 2021. Each month worked is equivalent to a benefit of R$108.50, with periods equal to or greater than 15 days counted as a full month. Anyone who worked 12 months with a formal contract receives the full minimum wage (R$1,302).

If you do not withdraw the benefit by tomorrow, it is still possible to recover the money, but to do so it is necessary to open an administrative process with the Ministry of Labor.

Resources from the Social Support Program (PIS) are paid by Caixa to workers in the private sector, while money from the Public Servant Asset Formation Program (Pasep) is paid via Banco do Brasil.

Workers can check whether they are entitled to the benefit through the Digital Work Card application.
