Cases of forced labor are again in evidence in Brazil. Men hired to work in the grape harvest in Bento Gonçalves, in the Serra Gaúcha, were rescued last week in a situation analogous to slavery. At least 207 workers reported having been deceived by the promise of temporary employment, a salary of R$4,000, accommodation and meals.

To understand the repercussions of this case and what configures a job as analogous to slavery, presenter Isabella Faria receives this Monday (6) reporter Caue Fonseca, correspondent in Porto Alegre, on the program Como é que é?.

According to reports, workers were physically abused and prevented from leaving the premises. They worked for two companies contracted by Aurora wineries, Cooperativa Garibaldi and Salton. The three say they were unaware of the situation. The men have already returned home.

The new program on TV Folha will air live, from Monday to Friday, on the newspaper’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitch channels. The entirety of the conversation is still available on the TV Folha channel on Youtube and also in an audio version on the main podcast aggregators.

Transmitted directly from the Newsroom, in downtown São Paulo, the program discusses politics, economics, culture, education, technology and everything that is a subject in the country, always with a reporter, editor, columnist for Sheetor an expert on the subject.
