Women’s World Cup: bank changes time on game day – 07/20/2023 – Market

Banks across the country will change their opening hours during the days when there are games in Brazil in the Women’s World Cup, according to Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks) this Thursday (20).

The federation claims that the change in the functioning of the agencies is due to the “heightened interest in the Women’s Football World Cup”. The world tournament, which started this Thursday (20), takes place in Australia and New Zealand.

According to the Febraban rule, banks will open one hour later on days when Brazil games start at 8am. When they are carried out earlier, without impact on the functioning of the branches, there will be no change in attendance. “The flexibility follows the policy already adopted during men’s World Cup games”, says the note.

The decision is in accordance with Resolution No. 4,880, of December 23, 2020, of the CMN (National Monetary Council), which authorizes financial institutions to establish opening hours in their units.

Internet banking, telephone banking and ATMs will continue to operate as normal. The channels that are open 24 hours will answer in this way. “Electronic means are a practical and extremely safe alternative and offer virtually all financial transactions in the banking system”, says Walter Faria, director of Febraban.

In a note, Banco do Brasil confirmed that it will follow the schedules determined by the federation.

In games scheduled for 8 am (Brasília time):

• In states with hours equal to Brasilia time, public service will be from 11:00 to 17:00
• In states with a difference of 1 hour in relation to Brasilia time, public service will be from 10:00 to 16:00
• In states with a difference of 2 hours in relation to Brasilia time, the agencies will be open from 9 am to 3 pm
• At branches in Fernando de Noronha (1 hour before Brasília time), service will be from 12:00 to 18:00

Companies will release employees

Companies from different sectors are going to release employees to watch the matches of the women’s soccer team in Brazil in the World Cup. Even though it is not mandatory, according to the companies, the objective of the initiative is to promote diversity and value competition, following the model adopted in the men’s tournament.

Brazil’s first game will be at 8 am, on Monday (24), against Panama. The selection is in group F, which also has France and Jamaica.

The federal government also gave optional points to federal civil servants on game days. According to Agência Brasil, the Minister of Sports, Ana Moser, asked President Lula to take the decision to encourage women’s football.

According to information from the Ministry of Sports, working hours begin at 11:00 am on days when the games start at 7:30 am and at noon when they start at 8:00 am. Hours not worked must be compensated by December 29th.

This only applies to federal servants — states, municipalities and mixed economy companies have the autonomy to enact or not the optional point.
