A recent stage for various events, the sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer will receive on Wednesday (29) the much-desired trophy for the Women’s World Cup. The trophy, the most tangible proof that the competition is getting closer, will be presented to all 32 participating countries, in a tour that started on February 18th, in Melbourne (Australia).
After passing through nine countries, the cup arrives in Rio de Janeiro to be shown to Brazilians in an event that will count on the presence of former star player Formiga and the coach of the Brazilian national team, Pia Sundhage.
Visitors will have the opportunity to pose for photos next to the trophy, which travels through other nations participating in the Cup until arriving in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, on July 14, six days before the start of the competition.
The opening match of the World Cup takes place on July 20, and will be played between New Zealand and Norway. Brazil debuts on the 24th, against the selection of Panama.
