The action was aimed at collecting food to be donated to needy families in the community.
Manaus (AM) – The social project Building Champions in Life and Sport, in the Cachoeirinha neighborhood, held a benefit class last Friday night (2nd) with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) athlete Alan Nuguette. The action aimed, in addition to the interaction of the world-renowned athlete with the children and young people who are part of the project, to collect food to be donated to needy families in the community.
The project has been operating in the Cachoeirinha neighborhood, in the South Zone of Manaus, for 12 years, including socially vulnerable children and young people in that area of the city in sports. Sports promoter in the State, Delegado Péricles (PL) highlighted the importance of social projects that help in the lives of children.
“The practice of sports is fundamental in several factors, including health. Social projects like these, in addition to working on health through physical activities, the social part and discipline help to remove these children from the world of crime”,
pointed out the deputy.
For the MMA athlete, who has already lived in social vulnerability, interactions like these are extremely relevant to show that the sport changes lives.
“On different days like these, we show that through sport we can be whatever we want. I was already in social vulnerability and the sport changed my life”,
declared the lightweight high-performance athlete, who was once a street kid and shoeshine boy.
Project
According to the coordinator of the Social Project Building Champions in Life and Sport, Francisco José, the project’s fight classes are now held in the premises of the Nossa Senhora da Consolação church, on Rua Urucará, in the Cachoeirinha neighborhood. On the occasion, Francisco spoke of the satisfaction of having an athlete of Alan Nuguette’s level in the class.
“Seeing Nuguette here with us is very important to encourage these kids to study, to practice sports and for them to see that Jiu-jitsu can transform them into champions”,
said the project coordinator.
The aulão also featured the Amazonas Jiu-Jitsu Federation (FJJAM). The president of the federation, Elvys Damasceno, was there and also spoke of the importance of initiatives like these for children.
“The main objective here is to show that a boy who was a shoeshine boy and lived on the street like Alan Nuguette and is now an MMA champion, any child and young person can also be champions, not only on the mat, but in life”,
declared Damasceno, thanking Deputy Delegate Péricles for his support in Jiu-Jitsu in Amazonas.
