Wilson Lima receives title of citizen of AM and says: “new economy is already reality”

Manaus (AM) – Governor Wilson Lima declared, this Thursday (2nd), that new economic matrices are already a reality in Amazonas. At the opening of the works of the 20th legislature, with the traditional reading of the Governmental Message in the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas (Aleam), the head of the state Executive also received the title of Citizen of Amazonas.

Present at the ceremony, chaired by Deputy Roberto Cidade, President of the House, in addition to state deputies, representatives of various powers and public institutions, such as the vice-governor of Amazonas, Tadeu de Souza; the mayor of Manaus, David Almeida; councilor Caio André, president of the Manaus City Council, among others.

“The development of new economic matrices is no longer an empty talk, without practical results. Without neglecting the intransigent defense of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, we are building a solid path to develop sectors such as natural gas, a market that gained a new regulatory framework, when we, the State Government and the Legislative Assembly, broke the gas monopoly”,

highlighted Wilson Lima.

He recalled that in 2021 Law No. 5,420 (the Gas Law) was approved, presented by the State Government. The standard has become a new legal framework for the natural gas distribution and marketing service, which has the prospect of generating at least 20,000 direct jobs, in an estimated seven years. Currently, the state of Amazonas already has the field through the Complexo do Azulão, located in the municipality of Silves (204 kilometers from Manaus).

He also reinforced that in November 2022 the governor signed a decree establishing the quotas and allocation of carbon credits in the state, which has more than 809.6 million tons of carbon equivalent (tCO2e) available for sale. In this way, Amazonas is qualified to raise more than US$ 1.6 billion in foreign resources, thus creating a new economic and sustainable matrix for the region.

After reading the Message, in a special session, Governor Wilson Lima was honored with the title of Citizen of Amazonas. The honor is granted by the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas to those who were not born in the state, but who provided relevant services to the Amazonian population.

Wilson Miranda Lima, twice the most voted governor in the history of Amazonas, was born in Santarém, Pará. Married to teacher Taiana Bezerra Lima, he is the father of three children. The eldest of six children, he started working at age 15 as a radio announcer and moved to Manaus in 2006, graduating in Journalism and acting as a radio and television presenter.

Attention to the capital and the countryside

The governor went on to present a summary of actions taken over the last four years, noting that he insisted on being present in all the municipalities of Amazonas and witnessing different realities and demands, which enabled decision-making to implement public policies that actually served the population. He pointed out that he was elected governor for all Amazonians and that, even in the face of major challenges in the first four years of his term, the state has robustly invested more than R$ 5 billion in various sectors such as the largest income transfer program of history, State Aid, approved in 2021 by Aleam and which serves 300,000 families throughout Amazonas, with a monthly benefit of R$ 150.

Wilson Lima also highlighted that his government honored the application of parliamentary amendments and said that this will also be done in this second term, receiving applause and recognition from the state deputies present.

Advances in several areas

The governor cited numerous advances and highlighted the area of ​​Health, recalling the installation of the first Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the countryside and anticipating actions for the next four years, including the inauguration of new health units, such as Hospital do Blood from Hemoam, and the start of kidney and cochlear implant transplants, which will be carried out at Hospital Delphina Aziz. He also reinforced investments in modernizing the state health network, making services faster.

Wilson Lima also highlighted the investments made in the areas of Education, with the construction and delivery of 12 Full Time Education Centers (Cetis) in 11 municipalities and in the capital; Infrastructure, with works on road systems in the interior and road complexes in the capital, such as the South and East Rings; Housing and Sanitation, with the historical beginning of Sharp’s Prosamin+ works; Public Security, with the holding of a public tender in the three forces and Secretary of Public Security, in addition to mentioning the partnership with the City Hall of Manaus, in a series of infrastructure actions, urban and social mobility, already carried out in the capital.

“I say without vanity, but also without fear of making mistakes, that there was not a single day that we failed to act for the good of the people of Amazonas”, declared the governor, receiving strong applause from those present.
