Parintins (AM) – Accompanied by ministers of State and other authorities, Governor Wilson Lima attended the opening of the 56th Parintins Folk Festival, on Friday night (30), and stated that the government is working to continue raising the Festival’s level, expanding its reach of the party inside and outside the country. For this year’s Festival, the State Government allocated resources worth R$ 12 million to the two associations, R$ 6 million for each boi-bumbá.
During the break between the performances of the Bumbás from Parintins, Wilson Lima spoke to the press alongside Ministers Daniela Cardoso (Tourism), Margareth Menezes (Culture) and Sônia Guajajara (Indigenous Peoples); in addition to the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho; federal deputy Saullo Vianna; state deputy and president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas, Roberto Cidade; the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo; and the director of government relations at Coca-Cola, Vitor Bica.
“We have made a great effort, since 2019, to take the Festival to another level. And everything we’ve seen here has shown how much the state of Amazonas is incomparable. And when I say incomparable, I am not talking about being better than anyone else, because here the grandeur of the state of Amazonas ranges from its complexity, its difficulty in logistics, but also to its fauna, flora and also its exuberance”,
said Lima.
The governor of Amazonas highlighted that the Festival is based on four pillars: Culture, Tourism, Sustainability and Employment and Income. “Here we work to show the world that it is indeed possible for us to develop, for us to generate jobs and income, without deforesting, that the people of the forest know how to do this”, he stressed.
Wilson Lima also mentioned innovations experienced in this edition, such as the Festa dos Visitantes at the Bumbódromo, with the presence of 20,000 people “without complications”, and the Turistródomo, in the square of the Cathedral of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, in addition to projects such as the “Recycle, Guys”, with the support of Coca-Cola.
Investments
Representing the Federal Government, the ministers promised investments for the next editions of the Parintins Festival. “Certainly, governor, we are going to do our best next year to show this spectacle of Parintins to the whole of Brazil”, declared Margareth Menezes.
“With the request of the governor, the Ministry of Tourism was able to provide a resource to be able to contribute to this great party”, said Daniela. “What made me most happy here was seeing the appreciation of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon portrayed in both oxen”, added Sônia Guajajara.
Acknowledgments
Still at the press conference, Governor Wilson Lima presented the new trophies that will be delivered to first and second place, a work by artist Lucijones Cursino Monteiro, who replaced wood with fiberglass; and also announced that the number of trophies increased from four to 24, 12 for each bumba, covering all individual items.
