Initiative aims to value families headed by women
Manaus (AM) – Governor Wilson Lima (União Brasil) announced that the payment of the March installment of the Permanent State Aid will be brought forward to this Wednesday (8) in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The initiative is a way of especially valuing families headed by women who receive the benefit in Amazonas. Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Single Registry of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) show that most families in extreme poverty, supported by only one person, are headed by women.
“In honor of International Women’s Day, we anticipate the payment of State Aid for March. This is because, on my recommendation, they are the majority of the beneficiaries of the program. In our government, out of every 10 civil servants, six are women. This shows your strength and competence, which are – more and more – conquering a deserved leadership space”, highlighted the governor.
This is the third installment of the aid to be paid in 2023. The benefit is always credited on the 15th of each month. The program was created by Governor Wilson Lima and is aimed at families in poverty and extreme poverty. At least 300,000 Amazonian families receive the benefit, which guarantees a monthly credit of R$ 150.
The Permanent State Aid is considered the largest income transfer program in the history of Amazonas and guarantees food security for the population in situations of poverty and extreme poverty. In addition to ensuring the dignity of those most in need, the program boosts economic growth.
The program was created as a response by the State Government to the social impacts brought about by the pandemic for families who lost jobs and income. The permanent State Aid guarantees the monthly resource for the purchase of a basic food basket, at the same time that it increases the economy of the 62 municipalities.
Pink Credit
In 2022, Governor Wilson Lima launched the Crédito Rosa program, aimed at women who undertake and work in the labor market (self-employed or Individual Microentrepreneur – MEI). So far, 421 women have been covered in Amazonas and over 6,000 consultations have been carried out.
The Pink Credit is offered by the Amazonas Development Agency (Afeam) and has a partnership with the State Department of Social Assistance (Seas), through the Term of Technical Cooperation.
Services are provided at the SEAS headquarters, located at Avenida Darcy Vargas, 77, Chapada, from 8 am to 4 pm.
