Governor says that the presence of the vice president is essential to show the Federal Government the importance of the model for job creation and the environment

Governor Wilson Lima and the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, participate in the 308th Ordinary Meeting of the Board of Directors of Suframa (CAS), this Friday (24). The meeting, which will be chaired by Alckmin, will take place at the Amazonas Vasco Vasques Convention Center, in the central-south zone of Manaus.

On the agenda of the meeting is the evaluation of 44 industrial and service projects, which estimate investments of approximately R$ 1.5 billion and the generation of around two thousand new jobs in the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM).

Wilson Lima emphasizes that the presence of Geraldo Alckmin is essential to show the Federal Government the importance of the main model of economic development in the region, which generates 114 thousand direct jobs, has more than 500 high-tech industries and contributes to the environmental preservation of the Amazonas, which today maintains 97% of the natural cover of the Amazon Forest preserved.

“The Manaus Free Trade Zone is essential and we do not give up, considering the economic, social and environmental damage that the region and the country would have if we lost this economic model”, highlighted the governor.

In February, Wilson Lima signed decrees for the granting of tax incentives to 66 industries in the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM) that had projects approved by the Economic Development Council of Amazonas (Codam). With investments of around R$ 2 billion, they should generate 2,000 new jobs in the state. In 2021, the renewal of the State Law of Tax Incentives was sanctioned, two years before the deadline of the legislation, guaranteeing state tax benefits until 2032, providing legal security to the industrial center.
