The campaign aims to raise awareness about mental health care in the health agency’s sectors

Manaus (AM) — Policlínica Codajás, a unit of the State Department of Health of Amazonas (SES-AM), through the Mental Health sector, held the opening of the White January campaign this Friday morning (12), which aims to raise awareness about mental health care, in the sectors of the health agency.

Users of the Unified Health System (SUS) and employees were present, who participated in the lecture given by mental health professionals, where they emphasized the importance of self-care, as well as observing warning signs for friends and family, so they can seek support from experts.

Furthermore, staff and patients were able to interact through questions, as well as receiving leaflets and white ribbons from the campaign.

The general director of Policlínica Codajás, Ráiner Figueiredo, present at the action, highlighted the work carried out by the entire team, which reached the mark of 11 thousand services in 2023.

“The number shows how committed and organized our professionals are to public health in the state, contributing to the decentralization of other health units. I congratulate the entire team for their commitment and dedication to a more humanized SUS”,

declared.

Psychologist Fabiane Vasques explained to those present the meaning of the White January campaign, as well as its origin, which emerged in 2014, in Brazil, on the initiative of a group of psychologists from Minas Gerais. The month of January was chosen because it is the beginning of the year, a period in which people tend to make plans and set goals.

Fabiane further explained that the month of January symbolizes the beginning of something new, and having mental health means having balance in your thoughts and emotions.

“It’s as if we had a blank canvas, where it can be painted, restarted and rewritten a new story, that is, new beginnings. There is still a lot of prejudice about mental care and we need to put an end to myths on the subject.”

The specialist also emphasizes that anyone who has poor mental health can be monitored by specialists and lead a normal life, receiving a support network to avoid crises and have a quality life.

Mental health sector

The Mental Health sector was reopened in January 2022 and has a team made up of psychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, social workers, technicians, nurses and administrative assistants.

Services take place from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 5pm. For appointments with the psychology team, reception is provided. For specialists such as neurologists and psychiatrists, care is provided via the Sisreg regulation system. Policlínica Codajás is located at Avenida Codajás, nº 26, Cachoeirinha neighborhood, South Zone of Manaus.
