Manaus (AM) – With the 2024 elections approaching, research released the survey of voting intentions of voters in 33 municipalities in Amazonas. The Em Tempo team gathered data from the survey published by Perspectiva Market e Opinião, and analyzed that the Social Christian Party (PSC), currently Podemos – after the integration of the parties -, was stronger in the polls as the first choice of candidacy in the municipalities.

The highlight comes after the merger of the PSC with Podemos, in a virtual plenary session in June this year. The decision authorizes the computation of the sum of the valid votes obtained by the incorporating party in the last elections for the Chamber of Deputies, for the distribution of the Party Fund resources for 2023 and for free access to radio and television.

Incorporation of parties is when one party is absorbed by another, it is then up to the political party that will be incorporated to deliberate, by absolute majority of votes in its national governing body, on the adoption of the statute and program of the incorporating party association. Different from the merger, which is when two or more existing parties come together to form another one. In 2022, there was only one request for a merger, between the Social Liberal Party (PSL) and the Democrats (DEM), which originated the União Brasil.

According to a survey released by Perspectiva Market e Opinião, the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) party remains as the second party on the list among the first choice candidates in the municipalities.

Two women appear in the lead in polls with voting intentions for the city of Parintins, councilwoman Brena Dianna (União Brasil) appears with 23.4% of voting intentions, followed by Michele Valadares, who is the ex-wife of the current mayor, Bi Garcia. Both are technically tied at the margin of error of 5.2%. Brena can reach 28.6% and Michele, 24.6%.

For the prefecture of Itacoatiara, Mário Abrahim (Podemos) stands out with 41.8% of the votes in the municipality, followed by state deputy Cabo Maciel (PL), who appears with 20.7% of the voting intentions. In Coari, the candidate Harben Avelar (Patriot) is in first place with 32.8% followed by Adail Pinheiro (Father), who appears with 30.7%.

Leading the polls in Tefé, the current mayor Nicson Marreira (União Brasil), appears with a large advantage in the preference of voters in the municipality for the municipal reelection of 2024 with 51.7% of the voting intentions, with an advantage of 29.8% ahead of second place Carlinhos Bessa, with 21.9% in the polls.

The current mayor of Iranduba, Augusto Ferraz (União Brasil), appears in second place in the polls with 28%., behind Alain Cruz (Podemos), who leads with 31.8%. In Maués, former councilor Dr. Macelly Veras is ahead with 35% of the voting intentions over the current deputy mayor Mazzini Leite (PSD) who appears with 24.6%.

The PSC stands out in the municipalities of Boca do Acre, with the current deputy mayor Luciana Mello (Podemos), with 24.1% of the voting intentions for the municipal elections, in the stimulated questions, which is when the survey presents some candidates to voters, ahead of the councilor and secretary of health of the municipality, Manuel Barbosa (MDB), with 15.3% and Eirunepé with Amaurilio Tomaz (Podemos), with 34.4% in front of the municipal secretary of works of Eir unepé, Anderson Pereira “Son”, with 19.7%.

In Humaitá, Herivaneo Seixas (PL) appears at the head of the polls stimulated with 29.6%, a result just above second place Leandro de Kairós (Patriota), with 26.6% due to the margin of error of 5.9% candidates can be tied.

Elections 2024

The survey carried out by aimed to capture spontaneous and encouraged voting intentions for Mayor of 34 municipalities in Amazonas in 2024. A previously tested questionnaire was used, with control questions for the four variables including gender, age, education level and economic level.

The names present were captured through analyzes and dialogues with the most influential groups and the main political leaders of the municipality. The survey is quantitative, by sampling, using a Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) system, with personal interviews conducted by telephone. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 6.9%, with a confidence level of 95%.
