‘We are going to build a new fiscal regime for Brazil’, says Lula

In a presidential message at the beginning of the legislative year, the government states that it will build a new fiscal regime for the country. Citing the progress of tax reform, the message highlights that new tax rules will be predictable and credible.

“We are going to build a new fiscal regime for Brazil. Even in the first semester, even before the date foreseen in Constitutional Amendment nº 126, of 2022, we will submit to the appreciation of the National Congress new fiscal rules that ensure predictability and credibility for our Country”, announces the note signed by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The government confirms that it will move forward with the tax reform, classified as “essential for the sustainable resumption of growth”. “It should promote a change capable of distributing the tax burden more fairly,” he declared.

And he added: “It is in our utmost interest to reorganize, as soon as possible, the fiscal situation so that we can go back to investing in Brazilian companies and in Brazilians. We want more robust public policies, we want to attract domestic and foreign private investment. Therefore, I reaffirm the commitment and willingness of this president and the government team to dialogue with Congress in favor of approving the fiscal reorganization measures.”
