Wanna Brito is called up to compete in the 2023 ParaPan-Americans – News of Brazil

This Tuesday (03) the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) released the names of the para-athletes selected to make up the Brazilian Team for the 2023 ParaPan-Americans, which will take place in Chile, between the 17th and 26th of November. In total, 108 athletes, 10 guide athletes, three runners and two goalkeepers from five sports who will represent the country.
Among the names selected is the Amapá athlete Wanna Brito, who will be competing in the shot put and club throw. Furthermore, coach Marlon Costa was called up for the sporting event.
“Once again Amapá is very well represented. This time the happiness is double, as our coach Marlon Costa was also called up. Congratulations and we will be cheering”wrote the Brazilian Paralympic Reference Center/Macapá (CRPB/AP), on its social networks.
The para-athlete from Amapá is world runner-up in the shot put in the F32 class, for athletes with cerebral palsy. Wanna recently broke the Americas record in the club throw and shot put at the Paralympic Athletics Circuit, in São Paulo. She was also part of the Brazilian delegation at the Grand Prix Marrakesh 2023, where she won a gold and a silver medal.
The athlete is currently 1st in the world rankings in shot put and 2nd in the club throw in her class.
“This will be the largest Brazilian Paralympic delegation in history at the Parapan American Games. We can only thank all confederations, clubs, coaches, multidisciplinary teams and athletes for their dedication and hard work developed throughout this journey. Our athletes are arriving very well prepared for the Games and I am sure they will bring many medals to Brazil”said Jonas Freire, director of High Performance Sports at CPB.
