Wallace, from volleyball, apologizes and admits error after post repercussion suggesting shooting Lula

After the repercussion of his post on social networks inciting that someone shoot President Lula, volleyball player Wallace used the same account to make an apology. The Cruzeiro athlete referred to the post as an error and said he was not in favor of violence.

“I’m here to talk about yesterday’s stories along with the poll. It ended up generating a very bad social repercussion. Anyone who knows me knows that I would never incite violence against anyone, especially against our president. I’m here to apologize, it was a unfortunate post, I made a mistake. When you make a mistake, there’s no way around it, you have to accept your mistake and apologize. I never had the intention of inciting violence or hatred, it’s not like me. That’s not what sport taught me and it’s not That’s what I want to pass on to anyone. A hug “, said the former player of the Brazilian national team in a video released on his own account.

Wallace’s post, made last Monday, generated a series of repercussions. The chief minister of the Secretariat for Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom), Paulo Pimenta, said this Tuesday that the Attorney General’s Office (AGU) was called to take action against the player.

“I have already activated the AGU and we are going to take all the necessary measures. We will not tolerate threats made by extremists and coup plotters!”, wrote the minister.

Sports Minister Ana Moser also spoke. In her account on a social network, the former volleyball player stressed that the athlete must respond as a citizen regardless of his status as a sportsman.

“Before an athlete, the player Wallace is a Brazilian citizen and must respond to our laws and institutions”, wrote the minister.

Sada Cruzeiro, on the other hand, published a note in which it regrets the athlete’s post and apologizes. “Sada Cruzeiro deeply regrets the publication made by our athlete Wallace and its content. We live in a delicate moment, in which we need to be very careful with our manifestations”, says the text.

“We stress, above all, that violence should never be exalted or encouraged, and on behalf of Sada Cruzeiro we sincerely apologize to everyone”, added the club.
