The minister of integration and regional development, Waldez Góes, announced this Saturday morning, 2, at the Palácio do Setentrião, the release of resources in excess of 11 million reais to alleviate the consequences of the serious drought that the state of Amapá has faced in the last three months.
Waldez anticipated that the resources are already committed and can be withdrawn from the banking network, as early as this Monday, 4th. He clarified that the more than R$ 11 million are only from the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR). Other resources, with the same purpose, are also guaranteed, but for later withdrawals.
The minister was received at the palace by the acting governor, Teles Junior; state secretary of social assistance, Aline Gurgel; and by the commander of the Military Fire Department, colonel Alexandre Veríssimo, among other authorities and directors of bodies that work on the issue of humanitarian aid to those affected by drought and fires.
Waldez Góes, which detailed the resources released by other ministries of the federal government, for execution by the state, warned that the Brazilian public authorities are already developing public policies and taking measures to combat the meteorological drought predicted to also occur in 2024 and 2025. One of the actions is provide municipalities with cisterns.
The governor Teles Junior, in turn, he highlighted the concern already existing in the state and federal governments regarding other possible droughts, and made a complimentary reference to the performance of the Civil Defense, Fire Department and crisis management led at the Palácio do Setentrião by secretary Aline Gurgel.
