After the federal government created the incentive program for the automotive industry that created discounts for cars of up to R$120,000, on the last June 6th, the Volkswagen company announced this Tuesday (27th) the temporary suspension of car production in its factories in Brazil. According to the company, the reason is “market stagnation”.
Volkswagen reported that the factories in Taubaté (SP) and São José dos Pinhais (PR) have two production shifts interrupted. Activities will be suspended until Friday (30), on a bank of hours basis. The Anchieta unit, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), will have ten-day collective vacations, scheduled for its two production shifts, starting on July 10th.
According to the company, “all flexibility tools are provided for in the Collective Agreement signed between the union and Volkswagen employees”.
The discounted car sales program has already spent R$420 million of the R$500 million reserved by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC). The amount represents 84% of the total available tax credits.
