There are more than 10 thousand students without classes
The attacks on public transport in Rio de Janeiro, carried out by militiamen on the afternoon and evening of Monday (23), left more than 13 thousand students without classes between Monday night and Tuesday morning (24).
According to the State Department of Education, 12 units suspended night classes in the areas affected by the attacks, affecting around 2,900 students.
This Tuesday, no state school was closed, according to the secretariat, but there is low student participation. The ministry states that the management of school units has the autonomy to take the necessary measures to preserve the physical integrity of students, teachers and staff.

In the municipal network, the number of school units that did not open this Tuesday reached 24. Despite this, there is remote service, according to the Rio Municipal Education Department. The number of students affected by the suspension of in-person classes is approximately 10,500.
Criminals set fire to 35 buses and even the cabin of a Supervia train between the afternoon and evening of Monday, after a police operation resulted in the death of one of the leaders of the militia that operates in the west zone of Rio.
The crime wave also affected federal and state public universities located in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.
