At the meeting, the director told the player that the club “will go to the last consequences in the face of the disgusting situation of hatred”.

Moments before releasing images of the meeting, Real published a note of support for the athlete, in which he says that, “given the seriousness of the events that occurred, he appealed to the State Attorney General, without prejudice to its nature as a private criminal action”, for understanding that the aggressions suffered by Vinícius constitute a hate crime.

In the text, the Spanish club thanks all the support that Vinicius Junior has received from players, clubs, personalities, entities and governments and mentions president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who demanded “serious measures” to “not allow fascism and racism take over football stadiums”.

The club also criticized the refereeing of the match, as, says the note, “the referee and those responsible for the VAR escaped their responsibilities and made unfair decisions based on incomplete images, not seen in full, biased and that led to the direct expulsion of the our player Vinicius Júnior.”

Also in the statement, Real Madrid claims that the events of the last round have embarrassed all of Spain. “From the Washington Post to L’Équipe, to cite just a few emblematic examples, underline very forcefully the serious problem of Spanish football.”

The image of our football is seriously damaged and deteriorated in the eyes of the whole world.

His passivity has contributed to the impotence and helplessness of our player Vinícius. The arbitrators, far from acting firmly and applying regulatory protocols, chose in most cases to inhibit themselves and avoid making the decisions that corresponded to them. For all these reasons, we are very concerned that no action has been taken by the Spanish Football Federation during all this time, despite the obvious and repeated alarm signals that our club has been denouncing.

Real Madrid hopes that, given the seriousness of the current situation and the image that Spanish football is offering the world, strong and immediate actions will be taken by all those who have responsibilities and powers to combat these scourges that are racism, xenophobia and hatred.
