The invitation to Brazil to participate in a summit in Egypt on the war between Israel and Hamas will force the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, to undertake an aerial marathon in the coming days.
Vieira is due to embark this Wednesday (18) for New York, on a visit that was already scheduled due to Brazil’s rotating presidency of the UN Security Council.
On Friday (20), he will travel to Cairo, where the meeting will take place the following day. He will then return to the American city for more Security Council events early next week.
It will be the chancellor’s second deviation from the route in two weeks. Last week, he had to interrupt a visit to Southeast Asia for an emergency meeting in New York because of Hamas attacks against Israel. To do this, he boarded a flight from Singapore, the longest in the world, lasting 18 hours.
