The session of the CPI on January 8 was suspended for 15 minutes on Tuesday (20) after a widespread argument.
Interrupted several times while questioning Silvinei Vasques (former PRF), the rapporteur for the work, Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA), told Bolsonarist federal deputy Éder Mauro (PL-PA) to shut up.
“Go scream somewhere else, not here. Shut up. Respect this commission. Shut up. I will not accept this in the commission,” said the senator, complaining that Mauro is not even a member of the mixed CPI.
General director of the PRF (Federal Highway Police) in the government of Jair Bolsonaro, Vasques told the CPI that the corporation is the target of the “greatest injustice” in history and denied that the corporation acted to harm Lula’s voters on the day of the second round of elections.
The CPI’s first deponent, Vasques was summoned because of inspections on federal highways in the second round of elections. The suspicion is that, under his command, the PRF tried to hinder the arrival of voters of the current president and then candidate Lula to the polls.
“This is not true. Because it is in the Brazilian Northeast that we have nine states, nine superintendencies. We have the largest PRF structure in Brazil, the largest number of PRF units”, he said in a statement.
“In the states of the Northeast, the largest staff of the institution is [PRF] and there is the largest road network of federal highways. The highest number of accidents and the largest fleet of buses in Brazil”, he added, denying that the corporation had tried to disrupt voters.
Since last year, the former director of the PRF has been investigated for three acts, all related to a possible favoring of former President Bolsonaro during the election campaign. He was removed from office on December 20.
