Senator expects voting to take place on the 20th and 21st of this month

Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), rapporteur for the Fiscal Framework, declared in an interview, on Sunday (4), that he expects the vote to take place approximately on the 20th and 21st of June. The text of the new tax rule, after going through the Chamber of Deputies, goes to the Federal Senate.

The House will analyze the proposal in June, before the parliamentary recess. Aziz also claimed that the goal is to reduce inflation, interest rates and generate jobs for the country’s growth again.

“There is an expectation of the Brazilian nation and not only of the National Congress. The Senate is a reviewing House, but be sure there will be some discussions to come to a common denominator. The report approved by the Chamber pleased the majority and gives credibility to Brazilians (…) there is no doubt that this fiscal adjustment is of great importance for Brazilians”, said the councilor.

During the CNN interview, the senator was asked about the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and the Valuation of Education Professionals (Fundeb) be kept within the limit of the new tax rule. In response, Omar said that this will not be harmed and the analysis will be done in a way that everyone should be heard to reach a consensus.

The senator emphasized the importance of Education, which the parliamentary front asked for a meeting and will be attended by the rapporteur. He brought up the theme of the environment and the generation of sustainable employment.

Omar stated that the Ministry of the Environment has not presented any proposal to generate jobs in a sustainable way.
