At the age of 63, commander signs until the end of 2024 with Cruz-Maltino
Vasco confirmed the hiring of coach Ramón Díaz this Saturday morning (15). The commander’s bond with Cruz-Maltino will last until the end of 2024. The coach’s last job was at Al Hilal, in Saudi Arabia. For the club, Díaz was vice-champion of the world cup and in the campaign he eliminated Flamengo by 3 to 2, in Morocco.
In addition to the Argentine, Libertadores champion with River Plate in 1996, assistants Emiliano Díaz and Juan Romanazzi, physical trainer Diego Pereira and performance analyst Damian Paz arrived in Rio.
Ramón Diaz’s debut ahead of Vasco will only be on the 23rd, against Athletico-PR, in São Januário, for the 16th round of the Brasileirão.
Díaz takes over from Maurício Barbieri, who was sacked after losing to Goiás on June 22. The last three matches of the team from Rio were under the command of the interim William Batista, with a victory over Cuiabá and defeats to Botafogo and Cruzeiro.
Vasco is 19th in the Brasileirão, with nine points in 14 rounds and four points behind Bahia, the first club outside the relegation zone.
