The president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, stated that he used a “metaphor” when he declared that there were “in everyone’s house” proposals similar to the draft of the intervention decree found in the house of the former Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres. The statements were made during testimony to the Federal Police this Thursday (2).
In the statement, with excerpts released by the g1, the party leader confirmed that he had received two or three similar proposals as a suggestion to prevent President-elect Lula (PT) from taking office. He assured that the minutes had no identification and reaffirmed that he would destroy the documents. Costa Neto stated that the proposals were “poorly prepared” and reiterated that he never took the proposals to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) or to the party leadership, and that he never addressed the Bolsonaro issue. The president of the PL also left the cell phone available for the Federal Police to analyze the device.
To the police, Costa Neto also declared that he was only once at the Ministry of Justice during the four years of the Bolsonaro government, that he had no relationship with former minister Anderson Torres and that he did not know anyone at the top of the Military Police of the Federal District.
Last week, in an interview with the newspaper O Globo, Costa Neto said that he received several suggestions to prevent Lula from taking office, which were sent to him by post or reached him during political events, without, however, even being considered. “There were people who put (the paper) in my pocket, saying it was like removing Lula from the government. Lawyers sent me how to do it using article 142, but everything was outside the law. I was careful to grind it down,” he stated.
