Valdemar says he has received several proposals to prevent Lula from taking office

The president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, said that proposals similar to the draft decree found in the house of former Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, were circulating around former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). “That proposal that was in the Minister of Justice’s house, that was in everyone’s house”, he said. The statements were made in an interview published this Friday (27) by the newspaper The globe.

According to the leader, several similar suggestions were forwarded to him by post or reached him during political events, without, however, even being considered. “There were people who put (the paper) in my pocket, saying it was like removing Lula from the government. Lawyers sent me how to do it using article 142, but everything was outside the law. I was careful to crush it”, stated Costa Neto.

“I saw that I had no conditions, and Bolsonaro did not want to do anything outside the law. The pressure on him was barbaric. As people think he’s very brave, a bit altered, a bit crazy, they thought he could do the trick. He didn’t do it because he didn’t see a way to do it. Now, are they going to arrest him for this?”, he questioned.

According to him, even when asked by allies to take some action to “prevent” the inauguration of president-elect Lula (PT), former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) “did not want to do anything outside the law”. Costa Neto also stated that Bolsonaro should return from the United States next week to assist him in conducting the PL.

Asking if he thinks there is a possibility that Bolsonaro will be ineligible, the leader said he does not see that possibility. “I don’t see a chance. He has several lawsuits against him, like any outgoing president. What are you going to condemn? Why did he say this or that? It doesn’t fit. What crime did he commit? This is crazy,” he declared.

Regarding the elections in Congress, Costa Neto said that he sees great chances for the election of Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) for the presidency of the Senate and said that Pacheco does not defend the parliamentarians. “I love Rodrigo, I think he’s elegant, distinguished, but he doesn’t defend the congressman. We want stability, we don’t want to fight with anyone, we don’t want impeachment (of a STF minister). We have to have balance, but there is no rematch, ”he said.

Regarding the election in the Chamber, the leader said he supported the current president Arthur Lira (PP-AL) and that any PL parliamentarian who tries to contest the election with Lira will be expelled from the party.
