The national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, said this Wednesday (1st) that Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) “showed the strength” of the party in the election for the presidency of the Senate. Marinho got 32 votes, but was defeated by the current president of the House, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), who was re-elected with 49 votes.

In a note, Valdemar said that Marinho “was a great candidate, he fought the good fight, he showed the strength of the Liberal Party and the greatness of its qualities”. The politician also wished Pacheco good luck.

“The government that took over now needs to come up with solutions, because, so far, nothing concrete has been presented. The PL will charge, it will supervise and will continue as a strong and responsible opposition, ”he said. The president of the PL also defended the “balance, firmness and harmony between the powers”.

“It is past time to resume discussions and projects to make Brazil grow. We need to go back to talking about job creation, the recovery of the economy and concrete actions to improve the lives of the Brazilian people”, he said. We have to resume state reforms and fight our huge social debt. We need to go back to reducing poverty and guaranteeing freedoms”, pointed out Valdemar.
