USP grants title of professor emeritus to Roseli Fischmann – 05/19/2023 – Politics

Next Tuesday (23), the Faculty of Education at USP will hold the award ceremony of the title of emeritus professor to Roseli Fischmann.
The event will take place at 4 pm in the faculty auditorium (Av. da Universidade, 308, Cidade Universitária, Butantã) and can also be watched on the institution’s YouTube channel.
The academic distinction, according to the USP statute, is granted “to its retired professors who have distinguished themselves by teaching and research activities or have contributed, in a notable way, to the progress of the university”.
Fischmann joined USP in 1971, one year after the Faculty of Education was founded. He graduated there in 1974 and, at the same institution, obtained his master’s degree in 1982, with the work “Administrative structure of the Municipal Secretary of Education of the Municipality of São Paulo”.
In 1989, at the same faculty, he completed his doctorate in philosophy and history of education with the thesis “Life and identity of the public school: a preliminary study of resistance to change in the state bureaucracy in São Paulo”.
She became a full professor in 1997 and, in recent years, has dedicated herself, among other topics, to research on religious teaching in public schools.
Among his most recent books are “Children and Adolescents: Building a Culture of Tolerance” (Edusp, 2021) and “Secular State, Religious Doctrines, Citizenship and Education” (Metodista, 2017).
