The US Embassy in Brazil announced this Friday (24) that the special envoy for climate, John Kerry, will visit Brasília from February 26 to 28. Kerry will continue the US-Brazil Climate Change Working Group, relaunched by Presidents Joe Biden and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Feb.

According to the embassy, ​​he will meet with high-ranking officials of the Brazilian government, congressional representatives and civil society leaders. The purpose of the visit is “to discuss opportunities for Brazil and the US to collaborate in combating the climate crisis, curbing and reversing deforestation, advancing the transition to clean energy and building a strong bioeconomy”.

In November, Lula met with Kerry during COP27, the international climate conference, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
